ReplyDeleteThank you so much! This is brilliant!
ReplyDeleteFab!!!! Thank You :D
ReplyDeleteHi Tony, I'm having quite a few problems with this site. And, i would like to make some personal views and opinions that , I , would like you to take into consideration. Firstly, the fact that students have the freewill to say whatever they wish, for example 'babyxxxxx'. My students recommended this site to me so its not that i want students not to be able to visit this site, its actually out of my interest not to choose lots of work from this site that my students can access the mark scheme from. Although i would appreciate it if students were to have house rules or something of the sort on this site as i feel some inappropriate things are said. And secondly, i feel that the way things are set out , are not so good and the search button does'nt always work. Anyway... moving on a much more positive word , your powerpoints seem to really be coming along well, although the worksheets for year 9 simply wont open up! I'd appreciate it if you could get back to me and explain your views on this, Thankyou
ReplyDeleteOh, so now our voices are not being heard! I'm an expecting mother and i'm sorry to say I certainly wouldn't want my child visiting a site like this! I mean, well, I haven't had an experience of having children as i am just at my pregnancy stage but this is just ridiculous! And the fact that Tony doesn't respond to our messages is beyond a joke! We demand for our voices to be heard!!!
ReplyDeleteMiss Mason,
ReplyDeleteFirstly thanks so much for your comments- lots to consider.
Obviously this blog was set up to be an aid for teachers planning their lessons by providing links to specific PowerPoints, worksheets, SATs papers etc. for the "old" QCA scheme; which was very content driven- hence I have kept the categories. As there doesn't seem to be a universal alternative to this, I plan to keep the layout as it is. Sorry if the search button isn't always up to scratch- it's a widget based on tags I give the links.
Now to the sticky problem with comments. I never envisaged the blog becoming a forum- which has caused me some concern, recently. As the platform for this site is a blog, I have the option of allowing comments etc.. Up to a month or so ago this was predominately used to say how useful the site was and, more importantly, when links no longer worked. However, as you can see, recently it has been a forum for upset. I shall, therefore, have to make a judgement as to whether comments are to remain on the site; bearing in mind the increasing number of pupils who seem to be accessing the links here. (I do find that especially encouraging for independent learning, even though having access to the mark schemes may skew any assessment we may wish to make.)
As to house rules, Miss Mason, I think they would be a great idea if I was looking to utilise the blog as a forum, which at the moment, I am not. Having said that I shall give it some thought and please do not be surprised if they appear here soon ;-)
I do intend to edit past comments in light of what you have said.
I shall look into the Year 9 worksheets, but I am always dependent on them being available free somewhere on the internet.
Thanks again for your input, Miss Mason
Kind regards
Tony
Dear Riffat,
ReplyDeleteyes you voice is heard, but please see the comment above. I am sorry you feel the way you do, but I think you will be pleased with the way comments will be dealt with in future.
Many congratulations on the forthcoming baby and I hope all goes well.
Kind regards
Tony
Dear Tony,
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for replying to the comment i have made. I'd say that people not being able to use comments on the blog may be a good idea, however, I must say some use the comments to review your website or as you said, inform you if the links no longer work. I agree this may need some time and you will need to think about this thoroughly but I am thinking if there is a way for you to moderate what kind of messages are sent. I appreciate the fact that you may not always have the time to do so, and i am prepared myself to encourage and support you to help others access this website in a positive way.
I thank you for the congrats on the baby, just to let you know I am now in hospital, so fingers crossed and the baby may be delivered in a couple of days. Thank you for the comments, i would be grateful if you could once again, reply to my message so that i know what you think of my suggestions.
Hi Tony, thank you for replying to my messages. I see me and Riffat Aslam have the same problem to do with the comments. Firstly i thank you for helping us both with this difficult procedure. I do realize that you cannot change the layout and that there is not a problem with the search with your computer. I am now able to access the links but might have to get my laptop checked out for any problems to why i cannot access the search button. The comments, i also believe that you should put some in some thought and actually disable the comments access. Although , i do believe what Ms Aslam is stating about the fact that it is useful for some people who use the commenting in a positive matter. I see how in a short time of a month people can change the way in which they use this site. I see you have not replied to Ms Aslam , please reply as soon as you can so that we can take further action. I teach science at Carlton Bowling College and i have realized that students have been accessing these sited for mark schemes. We actually had a bag check and found many of these mark schemes. To avoid further trouble of the sort, I feel parents/teachers should email you and notify you if they are teachers/students/staff so that then in future , it is not yourself who is responsible for the matter.
ReplyDeleteMs Aslam- Hope all goes well for you, fingers crossed. Thank you for making our voices stand out in the blog community!
